Rowan is an experienced composer and sound artist, recording music for theatre, performance, art installation, short film and animation. A multi-instrumentalist moving between guitars, keys, synths and sampled electronics, as well as frequently composing for cello and strings, his music seeks cinematic scale and emotional weight. Ambient tracks and scores integrate field recordings and textured sound design, while his towering string compositions and processed guitars draw on post-rock and contemporary film score, experimental electronic and dance music.
Recent work includes Meadow Wall (Limbic Cinema, 2022), Antigone (Bristol Old Vic Young Company, 2020), How to Start a Fire (Stockroom / FEN / Rising Arts, 2020) and Zugunruhe (Mechanimal, 2017).
